There are of course a plethora of other hotels to choose from on the island! Feel free to find a dreamy place of your own. We are happy to give suggestions!

We might be able to help coordinate transport to the wedding ceremony from your chosen hotel, but we can not guarantee this, and you should (back-up) plan for your own transport.

Practical information

Getting to Barbados from Sweden

Barbados is well served by airlines! If you are flying in from Sweden, both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic/SAS serves the island daily from Stockholm/Arlanda and Copenhagen/Denmark daily, usually with a transfer at London Heathrow.

Expect about 12 hours of flight time from Stockholm. Prices varies, but tickets are usually available from Stockholm for 8-15 000 SEK (round-trip). August might not be high season in Barbados – but it is in air travel, so book tickets early!

As a EU citizen, no visa is required for travel to Barbados. You will need to fill out a form either in the airport at arrival (recommended), or online (within 72 hours of travel).

For transit through the UK you need to apply for a Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before you travel (allow up to 72 hours for processing, but usually granted within minutes).

If connecting through the US as a Swedish national, you need an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization).

…or from the US

All the major US airlines serve Barbados, with most flights via American and Delta to their east coast hubs, with tickets usually available from about 300-500 USD round-trip.

As a US citizen, no visa is required for travel to Barbados. You will need to fill out a form either in the airport at arrival (recommended), or online (within 72 hours of travel).

Make it a vacation!

We realize that Barbados isn’t a short hop away from Sweden – or for that matter the US, or any other country you might be flying in form (except maybe from you Grenada – we see y’all!). With this in mind, we would love for you to stay for a few extra days, and for you to enjoy all that Barbados has to offer – be it wonderful kilometer long turquoise beaches, snorkeling above the coral reefs, touring the birthplace of rum, world-class dining or admiring the many beautiful tropical gardens (may we recommend a trip to see Sir Hunte and his transformed gully?). And as a bonus, this will be low season, so unlike in winter you don’t have to compete for space!

Oh – and we mentioned that August 3rd is the day of the Bajan Kadoooment carnival, right? Join us!?

Still not convinced? See our gallery from Barbados!

Travel once in Barbados

We will provide transfers from the hotel where room blocks are booked, to and from the ceremony and the reception.

If you plan on staying for longer a longer time, you might consider getting a rental car (Drive-A-matic is a good choice). Barbados Digital has more information on driving in Barbados as a visitor.

As an alternative, taxis are widely available across the island. Fares are set by the government, and viewable here (prices are in Barbados Dollars – fixed as 2 BBD per 1 USD, but USD are also universally accepted across the island). As always: agree on the price before starting the journey!
